So excited to share with you all that I am on my way to the “All Things Silhouette Conference” in Peachtree City, GA. This event is put on by Terri Johnson Creates. Terri has been a crafter for many years and started this get together about five years ago. It’s grown over the years and about 500 crafters are expected this weekend.
My sister, Christy and I are meeting up in person for the first time in about three years (I think it’s been that long). Christy introduced me to the Silhouette America cutting machines about a year ago. I had never used one before. She has the “Portrait and a Cameo” machine and loves them both. You can really cut just about anything with these die cutting machines.
I have the Silhouette Cameo and I really am amazed every time I make something with it. You can cut vinyl, fabric, leather, wood, polymer clay, and lots more. The Silhouette Studiosoftware is the genius behind the cutting machine. In the software, you can design, move, reshape, combine, etc. etc. etc. It is so fun to design my own ideas into a tangible craft.
This weekend we will be attending classes on all aspects of the Silhouette cutting machines. How to design in Silhouette Studio. How to start a business with your Silhouette. How to use the different aspects of the software. We will actually make crafty projects with the machines during classes. Also, I am taking a class on how to use my heat press. Cool! I’ve been wanting to learn to cut appliques from fabric on the Cameo. I am taking a class for cutting fabrics! There are so many options at this conference, it’s hard to choose.
I am hoping to also take an instructor course for the Silhouette machine in the fall. The conference will be a great opportunity to get info on that course. There will be door prizes and vendors galore. It’s a good thing I’ve saved up some cash.
I designed two t-shirts for a contest at the conference. My sister hasn’t seen them yet, so I’ll put in some pictures in the next post. I’m taking a big suitcase to carry all my goodies back from the conference. Woot!
If you have never looked into learning about the Silhouette America die cutting machines, you should do it! It really stimulates your brain and gets those creative juices flowing. Silhouette makes a variety of other little devices for stamping, glass etching, and rhinestone crafts. Amazing.
