Make these easy sweets and candy jars with your Silhouette Cameo. I have saved these Great Value Honey-roasted peanuts jars for several months. I am always thinking of projects to do with my Silhouette. Besides, I hate to throw things away that might be useful later.
I started by washing the plastic jars in the dishwasher. It didn’t really matter if the labels were on or off for this project. Once they were clean, I measured the label area that was already on the container. I opened up my Silhouette Studio and used the “draw a shape” tool to draw a rounded corner rectangle. I used the replicate tool to make two rectangles. For this project, I used Oracle 631 adhesive vinyl from Craft E Corner. I applied these two pieces to my jars.
Next, I needed some text. In the Silhouette Studio, I used the text tool and typed out two words, “candy”, and “sweets”. I selected each word and chose the font that I wanted. After choosing my font, I re-sized the words to fit on the front of the bigger label that I had made. I applied them with some transfer tape. Easy so far right?
I wanted some candy decals to add-on the front of the jars. I went into the Silhouette Store and choose the “candy set” by Sarah Bailey. They are really cute and you get a few designs for a small fee. You can mix and match the design, group, and ungroup it.
I used four different colors of vinyl to make my candy decals: orange, lavender, white and light blue. In the Silhouette Studio, I ungrouped, resized and re-grouped the design. I sized the design to fit on the front of my jar. Using the Cameo, I cut out the decals and put them together by layering the various elements before applying them to my containers.
I think they turned out really cute. I will use them for my Blue Razz-berry Blowpops. I’ve been on a blue raspberry bent lately. Who knows why? Have a great weekend and Happy Mothers Day.
