I recently made the Car Diddy bag from a Sewcanshe.com free tutorial. I love the way it turned out.
The tutorials instructions were clear and concise. The photos of each step in the process of cutting, assembling and sewing the bag were easy to follow. I compared my progress to each photo.
Initially I used heavy weight fusible interfacing on the first bag and it was very stiff. So I switched to medium weight fusible interfacing on the second bag and it came out fine.
Your patterns can be made from copy paper, newsprint or even a brown paper bag. This project is great to use fabric from your remnant stash. The color scheme on each bag consistent. The pattern I chose on the fabric was random. Use what you have on hand.
The only challenging part was the Welt zipper. I used Caroline’s tutorial. The zipper pocket is perfect. I did not use the velcro.
The bag will be handy in my truck. So here are some pictures of my bags. The Car Diddy bag was a fun and relatively easy project. If you are looking for some cool sewing projects, go to Craftsy.com.
