I love fall! We have all the seasons here in Southern Utah where I live. The wind blows most of the time, but we still have the seasonal changes.
The past several weeks, I’ve been busy sewing and baking. It’s fall after all, and that means pumpkin spice, cinnamon, savory foods, crafting and wood stoves.
I have gotten my wood pile built up for winter. Our temperature has been down to 24 degrees already this fall. Yikes! My sister says it’s still 90 degrees in Tallahassee. Wow! I love my wood stove. The wood heat is dry and wood fire smells so good.
The goats are getting their winter fur. My chickens are still laying eggs. I actually think my younger hens are starting to lay little eggs. It’s pretty cool how the chickens just know what to do. Animals have amazing instincts. I wish more humans were like that.
My friends Dani and Ben are getting married in Mexico this weekend. Really they are already married on paper, but this will be their ceremony with family and dear friends. I made them some gifts which Dani already says she loves. These projects were fun to make. I have some 6″ X 6″ tiles that have been lying around for a while. So I made this name tile. We all appreciate coffee in the morning, so now Dani and Ben will have their very own cups.
This table runner or wall hanging was made by sewing different colors of material together. I used a walking foot to quilt the project on my Brother sewing machine. As this is made with just stripes of different material, it was an easy project. I did quilt a spider web shape in the center portion just for fun.
This week I baked pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and some appetizers for work. Have you tried the “Bisquick, sausage and cheese balls”? Very tasty and easy to put together. You can find various recipes on Pinterest. I added some milk to mine for moisture as many of the reviews said the recipe needed more liquid.
You can make some lower calorie and healthier desserts with a regular cake mix and 1) a can of diet soda, or 2) a 15 oz can of pumpkin. An example might be a Spice Cale mix and can of pumpkin to make muffins or cookies. Or, a can of diet cherry soda and a brownie mix. Simple ideas to make a sweet treat. You don’t need to add anything else and bake as directed on the box. Cool eh!
As many of you already know, I am nuts about English Bulldogs! I have three now. Here is my newest addition, Scarlet Rae. She is an angel baby! Scarlet is now 12 weeks old. She can sit, shake, and potty outside. Scarlet knows how to use the doggy door. Augie, Gemma and Iggy have all been good with her. Gemma is a little mad at me, but she is feeling better after having this puppy around for a few weeks.
Have a great week. Cheers, AJ
