Happy New Year friends!
I wanted to start off this New Years post by sharing some information about my affiliate partners.
Initially, I started my blog as a fun project for 2017. I wanted to share my love of crafting, sewing, and DIYing. Also, I wanted to share about everyday life on my mini “ranch/farm”. You can actually set up a blog in a short time. However, you need to decide if you want to go it alone and take your chances with free themes, domain registrations, self-hosting, data storage etc. Or, if you want to pay for a hosting service that does all that sort of thing for a small monthly fee.
I paid for a blog theme and for a hosting service so I could feel more secure. Also, I had no real knowledge of all the technology “stuff” that was needed. So, really you can’t run a blog for free unless you are really tech savvy (or you are independently wealthy and have a ton of time to learn).
So how was I going to re-coupe any of the cost of starting this blog? Many bloggers are in the business to make money. Over time, partnerships have developed between bloggers and companies who need advertising. The internet and social media are a brilliant way to reach millions of people in a short time. If I share a post with you and you share with another person and that person shares, you get the idea. If I include a link in one of my posts to one of my affiliate partners, and you click on it and purchase something, I get a small commission. It could be a quarter, fifty cents, a dollar or a percentage of the sale. Cool eh!
My affiliate partners include companies that are in line with my interests. Craftsy is a company started by crafters for crafters. Craftsy is a creative person oasis. You can find supplies, equipment, classes, patterns, freebies, and videos, for any type of craft you can think up. I mean everything from applique, to cooking and baking, to gardening, to quilting, to cake decorating, to quilling, to painting, to paper crafts etc. http://www.craftsy.com
I recently purchased two quilt kits on a half off sale from Craftsy. I am working on this quilt right now.
It is an easy beginner type project and I love the colors. It will make a great addition to my craft room wall.
Two years ago I purchased a brand new Silhouette Cameo 3 for my own Christmas gift. I could not figure that thing out to save my life. I had it approximately 3 weeks and sent it back. I was frustrated beyond belief. I mean, I am a registered nurse and have been a paramedic in my career. I can usually figure out anything. My sister had immense sympathy for me and told me not to give up. As I am so hard-headed, I bought the Cameo 2 for a little less money and started again. I signed up on Craftsy for two classes that taught me how to use my Silhouette Cameo. Lori Whitlock and Alexis Middleton helped me to see the potential in the amazing cutting machine I had purchased.
Happy Crafters is another of my awesome affiliate partners. Happy Crafters sells all types of vinyl, cutting machines, heat presses, accessories, cut files, offers tutorials and freebies for cutting machine crafters! They have these cool bundles/kits that give you everything you need to craft with vinyl. They have an HTV kits, a beginners kit and a beautiful Rose gold HTV kit. If you need advice or have a question about your projects, the ladies at Happy Crafters are awesome resources. http://www.happycrafters.com
Another of my affiliate partners is Expressions Vinyl.
I have a lot of lovely vinyl from these folks. Expressions Vinyl is located in Shelley, Idaho. Not so far from where I am in Utah. Expressions Vinyl has all types of vinyl, heat presses, supplies for vinyl crafting, kits, video tutorials, and great deals on cutting machine bundles( for example, a Silhouette Cameo with a starter kit of everything you’ll need to get crafty).
Subscribe to EV email list to receive discount offers, news, and tutorial opportunities. You can even earn points towards purchases by joining their Inner Circle group.http://www.expressionsvinyl.com Expressions Vinyl has small sample kits of all their vinyl on a key ring to hang in your craft room. You will always have an example of the vinyl you want on hand.
The nice part about my affiliate partners is that each one started out small. They had a passion for crafting and figured out how to make money doing what they loved.
I am probably not going to make a million dollars with this blog, but I sure do have fun crafting and sharing my adventures with you all. If you have any questions about vinyl, cutting machines, heat presses or any of my crafts just drop me an email.
Check out these great companies and get your craft on!
